Hey
guys! My name is Geneva. I’m currently a sophomore. I love anything that has to
do with math so I guess you can call me a math geek. I usually go on Facebook,
and Youtube on my free times. But I also enjoy hanging out with my
friends and cousins as well. Actually, I should be getting ready right now to
go out and party with my friends. But I can’t, I’m stuck at home doing this
wonderful blogs that’s due this Friday, November the sixteenth. I really don’t
feel like doing this right now but I have no choice and I’m pretty sure I’ll be
thanking Ms. Davis(my English teacher) one day for making us do this. She
wouldn’t just assign us any type of assignments that won’t help us in the
future. Plus, this blog is worth a lot of points so I wouldn’t want to fail her
class just because of this. This blog is really easy so why not do it right? So
basically, we have to write ten blogs about the 1984 novel by George Orwell. We’re doing this to relate to Winston
Smith. He writes his own diary to express his thoughts and feelings but for us,
instead of writing a diary, we have to write a blog. It’s basically like the
same thing us writing a diary but in a computer. I recommend you to read this
novel, it might be a little boring in the beginning but as it gets in the
middle, it is very interesting. It’s worth reading it! But anyways, if you want
to get to know more about me, feel free to email me at

The novel 1984 was written by George Orwell in
1949. Winston Smith is a man who works for the party. A party where he believes
that everything is not managed right, he is against it. He writes his own diary
to express his thoughts and feelings. Writing this diary is very important to
him. He reflects on the diary due to the fact that he couldn’t share it with
anybody else. I can in a way relate to Winston, because I write my own blog as
well.
I personally write my own blog to express my thoughts and
emotions/feelings. I’ve just started writing this blog in about two weeks ago
and it helped me to better understand the novel. Writing this blog helps me better
understand what Winston is going through and why his writing this diary. It’s
like he has a fear of telling someone about he really feels and what his
thoughts are due to the fact of what they might think, or they’ll probably just
be against him and starts judging him in a way. He feels like he can’t trust
anybody.
Overall, I can relate to Winston Smith. Winston writing
his diary is like me writing my own blog. We both express our thoughts and
feelings in a similar way. We want to keep it in a very secretive manner. I
feel like if he tells anyone about his thoughts about the party then he might
be vaporized by the government.

SEX :o
The
novel 1984 was written by George
Orwell. Part one was about Winston Smith. He is a member of the party but
doesn’t like it due to the fact that they are trying to enforce a lifestyle
upon the inhabitants of Oceania. In the novel, sex is just a duty that you
serve for the party. It’s a duty because it produces children that the party
will shape into their ideals of humans. The examples of sex are Katherine, the
dark-haired, and the prole prostitute.
Katherine is the lady that Winston likes and is married to. She’s a real ideal member of the party. She’s scared of having sex, but still does it since it’s her duty. She’s only doing it to have children though. The dark-hair girl is wanted by many. She looks like an ideal member of the party but in the inside she actually doesn’t like the party just like Winston. She is very pretty but is also mean. The prole prostitute is a really old lady. She puts way too much make-up on and cracks. Even though she’s like that, Winston doesn’t care and still have sex with her. But then they separated because Katherine didn’t want to have sex. She is also very emotionless.
Overall, sex is illegal. It’s a crime and shouldn’t be done for pleasure. The dark-haired girl is wanted by many. Katherine is a lady that was married to Winston but is now separated. The prole prostitute is a really old lady that puts way too much make-up on and cracks.

War is Peace
The
novel 1984 was written by George
Orwell. “War is Peace” is one of the chapter titles in the book. This chapter
took a big role in the novel; it talked about how it’s classified to three
different classes, a High class, Middle class, and a Low class. Eurasia,
Oceania, and East Asia would fight each other in order to be in the High Class.
“War is Peace” in this novel means that in a war, people are just being
manipulated by what people that are involved in the war say. I agree and
believe that War is Peace.
From my opinion, War is Peace. There’s not really a reason why people are fighting, it’s the fact that people are being controlled by what the people that are involved in the war say. For example, when the Twin Tower was attacked, Bush sent many troops at Afghanistan to look for Bin Laden. Bin Laden was the suspect on attacking the Twin Tower. But we all don’t know if that’s the only reason why he sent all those troops there. There was already a bad history even before that happened.

So overall, in the novel 1984, what “War is Peace” meant was
people are being controlled by what people that are involved in the war say.
All the people would just go along with it, even if they only knew a little bit
of the situation. But the bad part about it is the person doesn’t even have a
clue that they’re being controlled in any kind of way. So basically, I believe
that War is Peace.
THANKSGIVING!
I
really don’t know what to write about right now but hey, Thanksgiving is just
right around the corner. I’m honestly looking forward for Thanksgiving this
year! A family gathering will be held at my aunt’s house which is usually done
every year. Lots and lots of food will be serve like turkey, mash potatoes, corn,
and Filipino foods such as pancit (noodles), adobo (pork and chicken) and many
more. But it’s not the only the food that I’m excited about though, it’s the fact
that I’m going to be with my wonderful cousins/relatives as well. It’s always a
good time having the whole family just get together and just hang out, catch up
on things, sing/karaoke, watch movies, tell stories, and more. We’d usually
stay up the whole night. My cousins and I are actually going to go get in line
for Black Friday this year. We’ve never done that before so we actually want to
try it out this year. I can’t wait! Lots and lots of sale everywhere! I’ve
babysitted many times just to save up lots of money. My mom gave me a hundred
dollars already to go shopping for which is very nice of her. I’m thankful to
have a mother like her. Even though she doesn’t understand me most of the time
and get into many arguments, I still love her. So I’m really looking forward to
this year’s thanksgiving, reunion with the whole family and lots and lots of
shopping! I’m very excited! J
Breaking Point :/
In the novel 1984, Winston Smith and Julia got caught and turned in. After he
got turned in, Winston was being tortured to confess for the crimes he
committed. He suffered, and was in so much pain. But not one bit did he ever
break down. He stayed strong the whole time. There was a time in the middle of
6th grade where I very first broke down.
I remembered when I very first broke
down. It was that one day in 6th grade, where Louis (my friend) got
his phone taken away since it went off in the middle of the class. I got forced
by my friends to take it from the teacher’s desk and give it back to him. The
teacher usually doesn’t do anything about our bad behaviors so I agreed to take
it and didn’t care of the consequences at the moment. We all thought that the
teacher wasn’t going to do anything about it. But she did, she told the
principal and I was in school suspension for three days.
The principal called my mom and I
had to talk to her as well. I broke down as soon as I got in the phone with
her, she sounded really, really mad and I couldn’t help but burst into tears. I
never in my life heard her get that mad before and as soon as I walked in the
house, she started yelling at me! It was a nonstop lecture for hours, I cried
for the whole time. Ever since that day, she’d always give me a lecture every
time she saw me. I had learned my lesson and I never got suspended again. I
turned my life around and stopped being bad.
Overall, Winston never really had a
breaking point. He was really hurt when he was being tortured but he never
broke down. My very first breaking point was in 6th grade and I had
learned my lesson. Ever since then, my mom knew that I had learned from it and
stopped giving me lectures. She started to trust me again.Heroes
In
the novel 1984 by George Orwell,
Winston Smith believes that there are no heroes. As it states in the book, “In
the face of pain there are no heroes, no heroes, he thought over and over as he
writhed on the floor, clutching uselessly at his disabled left arm”, Winston was
tortured, it hurts him a lot but he never broke down. No one helped him while
he was being tortured and that brought him to the fact where he believed that
there are no heroes. Heroes are people that are looked up to for their
braveness and noble qualities. There are many heroes here in the United States
of America.
Heroes here in the United States of
America are recognized a lot for what they’ve done. For example, firefighters,
the militaries and people who helped in Hurricane Sandy are known as heroes.
Firefighters risk their lives for people that they don’t even know. They put
out fires which is very dangerous, to try and save many people. The militaries
would fight for their country and protect their people as well. People who had
helped in Hurricane Sandy also risk their own lives to try and save many
individuals.
Overall, in this novel, Winston
believes that there are no heroes. Since no one helped him. But in today’s
society, many people are considered as heroes. Firefighters, the militaries,
and people who helped in Hurricane Sandy saved many people’s lives. They are
recognized for their braveness and are now known as heroes.
Fear
The
novel 1984 was written by George
Orwell. In Part three, Chapter five, O Brien’ reminds Winston Smith about his
worst nightmare. It was that dream of being in a very dark place, where the
walls are filled with rats. Winston fears rats! But I have a fear of insects
though, mostly spiders and centipedes. I find them very scary and ugly; they
move/walks way too fast!
I have a fear of insects mostly
spiders and centipedes. I remember when I stayed over my relative’s house in
California for vacation. Robert (my cousin) has a pet spider and centipedes. I
never went in his room since that’s where he hides his pets at but he has it in
two different cages though. One day, one of his centipedes was missing. We
looked everywhere just to find his pet but we really couldn’t find it. Rona (my
cousin) and I were really tired and decided to go to bed. She let me share
rooms with her. While I was laying down, I felt something moving. So I turned
the lights on and saw the centipede on our sheets. I screamed very loudly, and
ran out of the room! Rona just stayed there and killed it! Everyone hurriedly
came upstairs. My eyes were very teary while we told them what went on and
Robert was mad how Rona killed his pet but in the end, he really didn’t care
anymore.
Winston Smith has a big fear of
rats. I have a fear of insects mostly spiders and centipedes ever since I was a
little kid. I would do anything just to get those things away from me. They’re
very ugly and disgusting!
IM FINISHED! :)
I
really don’t know what to write about right now. I’m watching Fast Five while
working on this Blog. Fast Five is one my favorite movies! I can’t wait until
the new Fast and Furious movie comes out next year! But anyways, this is my
last post that I have to make so I guess I’ll just write about how I’m almost
done with this blog. I am so glad that this is my last post that I have to
make. I’ve been really busy lately due to this blog that my English teacher,
Ms. Davis assigned us. But I’m not even complaining right now, I’m actually
glad that we did this since I’m pretty sure I’ll be thanking her one day for
making us do this. Plus, just like what that one quote states “hard work, pays
off”. That’s actually one of my favorite quotes. That quote motivates me to do
my work every day. I really hope I get a good grade in this. Since I tried my
best and worked very hard on this. I find this assignment as one of the easiest
assignments that we’ve done in English so far. Writing this blog made me
realize how Winston Smith felt. He expresses his thoughts and feelings by
writing a diary while I wrote a blog. There’s not really a difference, it’s
just the fact that I wrote it in a computer. I actually liked this kind of projects;
I have to say this is one of my favorites! J
